DIY Nail Art Tutorial: Baby Blues

Final

I’m excited to share with you my first DIY nail art tutorial!!  I love painting my nails and often change them a few times a week, constantly being inspired by new color palettes and posts on Pinterest.  I had shared a few photos on my Instagram over the past couple months  (here, here and here) and when Stephanie from The Naked Canvas found out I did them myself, she encouraged me to share my ways on the blog!

So what inspired my love for nail art?  I’m going to get a little personal again because, well, that’s just what I do from time to time.  I started dabbling in nail art a several years ago as a creative outlet, but mostly as one of my ways to partake in a little self-care.  When I found myself getting anxious after eating or stressed with work, I started carving out some time to paint my nails.  Setting aside the 1hr to sit down, turn on some tunes and get creative was incredibly relaxing and it left me feeling a little less anxious, a little less stressed and I walked away with some pretty fabulous nails.

I believe there is a lot to gain from finding/making time for ourselves to engage in something that makes us happier, healthier, more relaxed or leaves us a bit more refreshed.  In this crazy, beautiful, hectic world we live in, we often run around with an incredibly busy schedule and excuses of, “I don’t have enough time” or, “I should be doing such and such instead”.   I am very guilty of making these excuses and have learned  that “such and such” will most likely be there tomorrow and, even if it’s only 5 or 10 minutes you can find, it’s important to start somewhere.  I’ve been fortunate enough to make my own schedule these days, but even when I was working full-time and running a nonprofit, I tried my darndest to find at least a half hour of me-time as much as I could…and I hope you can too!  So whether that’s doing your nails, getting a massage, going to bed earlier, going for a run, eating well, painting or whatever strikes your fancy, we owe it to ourselves to take a step back and  make that time.  Just my two cents:)

So back to some nail art!  I hope you find the below tutorial useful and I would love to hear any other ideas you have that would help make my nail art tutorials better in the future!  Please feel free to email me with any questions!
