The Oversized Trench

Oversized trench coat, silk medallion scarf, black topshop loafers, quilted backpack

I think I need to first take this opportunity to thank the Olsen twins!  I love anything and everything oversized and thanks to them, they’ve helped pave the way for petites pulling off the trend too…at least I’d like to think so:)

I recently was part of a fall lookbook photoshoot for the awesome duo of Lost Girls Vintage (I posted a couple sneak peeks of the shoot here and here).  Sarah & Kyla started their mobile vintage shop about a year and a half ago and travel far and wide to curate some of the best vintage pieces I’ve seen.  It had been a while since I had been thrifting and shopping for vintage pieces, and with being on a self-imposed shopping freeze, I hadn’t planned on picking the hobby up again anytime soon.  However, after spending the day with Lost Girls Vintage and seeing all the amazing clothes and accessories they had to offer, I was inspired to seek out some pieces of my own.  And since it’s second-hand shopping, that doesn’t really count towards the shopping freeze right?!  Oh what we do to justify our behaviors sometimes:P Anyway, with that said, I found this floor-length trench while sifting through the thrift store last week and with a price tag of $19.99, this Harrods coat was mine!  When I pull the sleeves down, they hit perfectly on my wrists, but if it’s not too cold, I prefer to tighten the bands and keep them pushed up.

The scarf is a gift from one of my good friends who brought it back from her trip to Italy.  It’s a classic and it will be something I will have in my wardrobe for years to come.  I kept it simple underneath with a grey long sleeve top and one of my favorite pairs of denim, these jeans that you can get for 25% off now through October 16th!!

On to this bag.  Thanks to Mellow World, an animal friendly company that specializes in only using vegan leather for their accessories, I had the opportunity to check out one of their bags first hand.  I not only love this quilted bag because of the quality, but it’s versatility too.  Depending on what the occasion calls for, I can wear it as a backpack or simply remove the back strap to wear as a tote.  Not to mention I was thrilled to be introduced to an animal friendly company and incorporate a vegan piece into my wardrobe.  Something I will be doing more of.  :)

Also, Mellow World is offering my readers 10% off your purchase!  Just use MW10SNS when checking out!

So what’s your vote on the oversized trend?  Yay or nay?  Any favorite pieces you like to wear?  I’m looking for an oversized turtleneck (yep, even though I’m on my “shopping freeze”) so I’d appreciate any recommendations!

Hope you’re having a great week!

Speak soon,

Megan
